Themed Curriculum
| We have been following our themed curriculum for a few years now. Each half term a new theme, which can be a combination of geography, history, science, art, technology with elements of literacy, maths, music and PSHE, is introduced. theme titles have been carefully devised as either a question or a ctachy phrase, to interest and excite the children. Teachers find creative ways to introduce the themes and to find out what the children already know before starting. All aspects of geography and histor, and some aspects of science are included in themes, with soem science being taught as a discrete subject. Wherever possible art and technology skills are included in themes too. We find that learning is enhanced when childrne can make links between subjects.
Visits and visitors are encouraged as part of our themes and we welcome ideas from children adn their parents. All classes study 2 world countries during the year, one from Europe and one from the wider world. this is often in the form of a themed day or half day when the children are immersed in aspects of that country.
